Being part of the Arabian Peninsula, and due to common ethnic and cultural backgrounds, the population of Qatar is predominantly Arabs.
Qatar was populated by migrants from nearby areas such as Al Hasa, Najd (KSA) and Oman during the 17th and 18th century. Tribal emigration to Qatar continued and did not cease till the beginning of the 19th century.
