Doha, March 09 (QNA) - H.E. the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani announced Tuesday a grant of fifty million Qatari Riyals to the Republic of Comoros through Qatar Development Fund implemented over five years by "Development Fund of the Comoros" . This came in a speech delivered by HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister in the opening of the two-day Conference on supporting development and investment in the Republic of Comoros. In his speech, HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister extended greetings of H.H the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to the participants and his wishes of success. He said that the Republic of the Comoros, since its independence, could not formulate a development, administrative and investment program to boost its economy, sovereignty and independence, indicating that the Arab countries included this crucial issue in the Arab summits'' decisions and also was developed within the decisions of the Organization of Islamic Conference''s summits and included in perspective of the United Nations'' decisions of the Millennium Goals to be implemented. He noted that the Republic of the Comoros is one of the least developed and poorest countries and that requires solidarity to face development challenges in its comprehensive vision as well as addressing the issues impeding the development, particularly in the fields of Education, Health and Economic Investment, Agriculture, Fishing, Tourism and Mining. HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister called for a joint stand with their fellow brothers of the Comoros and provideing maximum financial, technical, moral and humanitarian support, affirming that the massive participation in this conference represents the success of Joint Arab and Islamic cooperation and international community''s support for a development project that gains all chances of success.
