• HE Al Attiyah Signs COP 18 Agreement with UNFCCC Official

    Doha , June 04 (QNA) - HE Chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah, who is also the President of UN Climate Change Conference (COP 18), signed Monday the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) agreement on climate change with Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Christiana Figueres.
     The agreement was signed in the presence of HE Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammed Al Sada and HE Minister of Environment Abdullah bin Mubarak bin Iaboud Al Mahdaadi and a number of ranking officials. The agreement was relating to the State of Qatar's hosting of COP 18.
         HE Al Attiyah will be the President of COP 18, the biggest environmental conference of its kind. His term will end on the first day of the inauguration of the next 19th edition .
     Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Malki, who is the Office Director of the Chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority as a member and general coordinator of COP 18, signed two contracting instruments , the first with Qatar Foundation that allows the Qatar Convention Center to host COP 18 and the other with the institute for the development of exhibitions and conferences to provide support services during the conference.
     The conference will be held in Doha this year from November 26 to December 7, with more than 17000 participating in 195 countries in the world. (QNA)
