Two more series of children concerts will be performed by QPO in July ‘How the Orchestra Works’ on July 14 and 15 and Hansel and Gretel on July 23. The guest conductor Cornelia von Kerssenbrock from Germany will make her second appearance with QPO. Aside from being the permanent conductor at Opera Festival Gut Immling, she works regularly with orchestras from many countries, including Switzerland, Russia, Czech Republic, and Romania. She is known for her contagious vitality. Her great musical expression, sensitivity and precision make her one of the most sought after female conductors today. Coming straight from rehearsal at Opera Festival Gut Immling will be ten soloists specially prepared to perform in this children presentation of The Magic Flute, an opera composed in 1791 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The piece tells the story of Prince Tamino, who is sent by the Queen of the Night in order to free her daughter Pamina from Sarastro’s Temple of Sun. At his side is the bird catcher Papageno, who is longing for a Papagena. Soon they arrive in Sarastro’s state and they become confused about what is good and what is evil. Both have to pass examinations. They only succeed with the help of their magic instruments. (QNA)
