Makkah Al-Mukarramah, February 22 (QNA) -The Muslim World League today strongly condemned the burning of copies of the holy Qur'an by soldiers at US Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, describing the act as a heinous aggression against Islam and Muslims. A statement issued today by MWL Secretary-General Dr. Abdullah bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Turki, said the burning of copies of the holy Qur'an provokes the feelings of over a billion and a half Muslims in the world, stressing that the act incites hatred which is banned by divine religions and prohibited by international laws issued by the United Nations.
The statement called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and governments of Islamic countries to exert efforts to hold accountable those who burned copies of the holy Qur'an and to prevent the recurrence of such heinous act that angers the Muslims of the world, and provokes hostility between peoples.(QNA)
