Cairo, February 22 (QNA) - Cairo criminal court resumed Wednesday the final session of the adjourned trial of ousted Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak along with his ex-interior minister Habib El-Adli, his two sons Gamal and Alaa, and six of his assistants on the lawsuits of corruption and killing hundreds of protesters during the 18 day uprising that toppled Mubarak. During the final session, the Public prosecution noted the Judge Ahmed Refaat that the hospital of Tora prison was ready to receive Mubarak. "We inform your honor that the Tora prison hospital is ready to receive the primary defendant, Mohamed Hosni al-Sayed Mubarak," the report to the court said according to the Egypatian newspaper Egypt Independent.
The court, led by Refaat, will hold the last session of the trial today to hear closing arguments from defense lawyers before setting a date for a verdict.
State-run news agency MENA reported that after reading the letter, Refaat argued with of the plaintiffs lawyers who had previously questioned the court’s competence.
The dispute forced Refaat to adjourn the session after two minutes, and the lawyer s colleagues wrote a memo to the court saying he does not represent them.
The trial, considered a historic moment, was adjourned earlier on the 20th February to be slated to resume on February 22nd when State prosecutor Mostafa Soliman accused El Adly of failing to help prosecutors in determining the responsibility for killing protesters during the 18 day uprising that toppled Mubarak.(QNA)
