Berlin, February 22 (QNA) -The German Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday the first meeting of the Syria contact group which will be held in Tunis on Wednesday will elevate the status of the Syrian National Council. A foreign ministry spokesman said the situation in Syria was still tragic and that coordinated efforts should be taken to stop violence and the suffering of citizens in Syria through extending relief assistance.
Some 60 countries and organizations will take part in the meeting which will focus on ways of gaining access to Syrian citizens.
Germany will be represented at the meeting by Foreign Minister, Guido Westerwelle. (QNA)
