Geneva,March 13 (QNA) - The Kuwaiti delegation to the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) has called on all religious scholars and civil society institutions to support and consolidate the values of religious tolerance in order to achieve harmony among all walks of life. Addressing the currently held session of the HRC in Geneva last night, the Kuwait diplomatic attache at the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry Falah Al-Hajraf stressed the significance of pointing out the right to the freedom of belief in all its aspects for all people. The state of Kuwait called on "all key players to commit to banning the call to religious hatred which forms an instigation to discrimination, aggression and violence in accordance with the second paragraph of the 20th article of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR)." The kuwaiti diplomatic attache Al-Hajraf also pointed out in his address that "the inter-faith rounds of dialogue fostered by many countries will not be solely capable of resolving the main problems affecting believers of various religions. He also asserted the support lent by the state of Kuwait to the programs aiming at propagating the culture of tolerance and understanding through dialouge, drawing attentions to Kuwait''s establishment of a world center for religious moderation. Al-Hajraf went on to say that this center organized several international and intellectual conferences to display its experience in countering the extremist thought, while some concerned state bodies set up programs and held forums for all walks of life in order to promote moderate thought in the society. Finally, Al-Hajraf commented on the report made by the UN special rapporteur on freedom of religion and belief Ms. Asma Jahangir on supporting and consolidating religious tolerance, saying that "my country believes in all principles and bases of the economic, social, cultural, civilian and political human rights, as they are legitimate to all individuals in the society and cannot be divided."
