Seoul, October 29 (QNA) - South Korean it is to pull out its troops stationed in Iraq by December 20, the Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday.
"According to a tentative schedule, the unit will transfer all its missions to U.S. forces there and start pulling out in early December and will be back in the country no later than Dec. 20,"  said the ministry's spokesman Won Tae-jae.
South Korea sent some 3600 soldiers to Iraq in 2004, which was considered the largest deployment of troops after the US and Britain, but later it decreased the number due to public opposition to the mission. So far, it has over 600 troops in the northern city of Irbil. (QNA)
